Love is in the air in this season of MTV Splitsvilla

In keeping with its culture of staying raw and young, MTV, world’s premier youth brand, continues to experiment with new concepts to keep the youth entertained. MTV Splitsvilla one of the channels most popular property is back with season 7 this time around with a new theme, new host and never before seen twists and turns to the show. After the resounding success of previous six seasons, this season of MTV Splitsvilla is all set to raise the hotness meter even higher with MTV VJ Nikhil Chinapa and sensuous Sunny Leone as hosts of the show. 

“We always want to do something better than the last season which helps us in making our content. All shows on MTV focus on and relate with the pop culture. Last year has been an interesting year for us and with time MTV is changing and evolving. We are in the business of young people and not restricted to the business of television or media. Every season of Splitsvilla is like a rebirth of special franchise of MTV,” said Aditya Swamy, EVP and Business Head of MTV.

MTV Splitsvilla which brews the perfect love potion will be seen in a new avatar this season. This time around 20 hot girls will be seen wooing and vying for the attention of seven stunning male celebrities. In season 7 of this most popular show, viewers will get to see the likes of Ayaz Ahmed, Abhishek Malik, Ashwini Kaul, Mayank Gandhi, Mayank Pawar, Rishabh Sinha and Shravan Reddy being fought over by stunning women that include former Ms. Goa and lingerie model Scarlet Rose among others at the romantic Samode Palace in the vicinity of Jaipur. The show will also see some never-before-seen twists and turns as temperatures soar and the drama intensifies!

Vikas Gupta, Programming Head of MTV India, said “MTV Splitsvilla is a show that supports young love. This summer we’re taking the contestants to a hot new destination that will add a new flavour to the show.  We have given the format a twist, with 7 male celebrities and 20 girls in the exquisite surroundings of Samode Palace in Jaipur which should be the perfect place for love to blossom. Moreover, roping in Sunny with Nikhil is bound to accentuate the glam factor of the show.”

Till date MTV Splitsvilla has entertained around 50 million young Indians across six seasons and last season got the viewership of more than 65 million viewers. “While the highly controversial show has become an obsession with young people, we have built strong levers of engagement through our digital platforms which keeps the franchise alive 365 days. With a brand new format disrupter this year, we are looking forward to taking this twisted game of love to an altogether new level,” added Swamy.

Splitsvilla season 7 has more romance and love in it as the theme is centered around a fairy tale romance and finding prince charming amongst the dashing 7 male celebrities.
“This season we wanted to go beyond the concept of Splitsvilla and work round the theme and came up with a fairy tale romance for season 7. It is a must for us to evolve every year and that evolvement comes from the formats amongst other things. The biggest thing is not only roping in Sunny Leone but in getting 7 male celebs to find love amongst 20 gorgeous girls,” shared Gupta.

The title sponsor for Splitsvilla Season 7 is Killer, with three ‘powered by’ sponsors viz. Manforce, Fogg and Karbonn on board and digital activities are already in place. 

On asking Sumeli Chatterjee, Head Marketing, Media and Insights, MTV about marketing plans chalked out for season 7, she explained, “Last year we had ‘Hot as Hell’ as the theme where everything was about being sexy and about the looks. This year season 7 is going much deeper in terms of emotions as it’s talking about ‘Fairy tale Romance’. Splitsvilla is the longest running romantic reality show on television and every communication we are going to put out is going to ride on the same.” 

Splitsvilla Battleground where one person in Splitsvilla will get selected amongst the digital audience, Break up Diaries which will happen on different platforms with Sunny Leone through interactions or on ground visits are some of the channel’s digital initiatives. Elaborating further on the activities she said,  “We are also doing ‘Splits Snapper’ which will give a one-time chance to the winner of the contest to be the official photographer of Splitsvilla 7,  to be a part of the crew and the cast and also get an opportunity to capture activities behind the scenes right from the set. This time we are not just reaching out to metros but also non-metros. Apart from parties and college activations we will also be doing webisodes with un cut scenes too as part of marketing.”

Speaking about her association with MTV Splitsvilla and her new role as host in the show Sunny Leone said, “With the show all set to launch, I’m more excited than ever. Having watched MTV Splitsvilla in the past, it’s a great experience to now be a part of it. I’m really happy to be associating with MTV once again, this time to be the host of MTV Splitsvilla and I look forward to a great time and hope that this season the contestants find true love as that would be the real win.”

As tantalizing anticipation builds up, viewers can now witness Cupid strike in the 13 episodes series of Splitsvilla season 7 that will be aired on 14th June 2014 and thereafter  every Saturday at 7 pm only on MTV.
