Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts all set to open first property in India

Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts is set to launch its first property in India, the Mövenpick Hotel & Spa Bangalore, which will receive its soft opening on June 1, 2011.

The stylish upscale hotel is set to cater to India's fast growing business travel market and signs a new phase in the company's strong expansion within Asia and the Indian Subcontinent following marked growth in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

The contemporary designed Mövenpick Hotel & Spa Bangalore is set to offer five-star hospitality and is conveniently located near the main business districts of the city and a 30-minute drive from the airport.

Featuring 182 well-appointed rooms including eight Executive Suites and one Presidential Suite, the Mövenpick Hotel & Resorts' first property in India will offer guests an enlivened hospitality experience coupled with quality, reliability and care with a personal touch, the core values of the Swiss hotel company.

Guests can enjoy a selection of four dining and entertainment options including the Italian Mezzaluna, the 24-hour My Place restaurant, the Japanese Perfect Sky lounge and the Obsidian bar, featuring a striking interior design reminiscent of the 1920s.

A dedicated floor for banqueting facilities include a grand ballroom and seven meeting venues offering an ideal setting for stylish social functions, exclusive board meetings and corporate-wide celebrations.

Spa enthusiasts will find a haven of relaxation at Sohum Spa, a top-class wellness facility featuring five treatment rooms and an extensive selection of therapies, all inspired by traditional Indian, Oriental and European healing techniques. The Spa has beautifully captured in its design and décor the Hindu temple architecture of South India, creating a soothing retreat for equilibrium and harmony.

Situated on the 12th floor and offering magnificent city views, the fitness centre features modern equipment and dedicated rooms for Yoga and meditation while the 20-meter long swimming pool with infinity edge is located on the 2nd floor.

Andreas Mattmüller, chief operating officer for Middle East & Asia said: "The Indian tourism sector is one of the fastest growing in the world and we are extremely excited about opening in Bangalore and entering the Indian market."

Kodandaram Ramaiah, managing director MSR Hotel (Bangalore) Pvt Ltd and owner of the upscale property, said he looked forward to a long and successful relationship with Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts. "The company has built up a large profile in Europe, Africa and the Middle East and we look forward to drawing global travellers who know the brand, and introducing it to executives within the Subcontinent."

Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts has strong expansion plans in India and has recently announced a second property in the country, the Mövenpick Dharamshala Resort & Spa, an exclusive 110-room resort in the Northern Indian Kangra Valley due to open in 2013.
