Major reshuffle seen at LG India!

A top level reshuffle has been seen at LG Electronics India the country’s largest electronics company. The company has replaced its heads of marketing and sales keeping their revenue target  in mind.

Sanjay Chitkara who earlier headed the sales administration will now replace L K Gupta , chief marketing officer , who has resigned after a  five year stint with the company. Sanjeev Agarwal, earlier the head of business excellence now replaces Amitabh Tiwari and will be heading sales from now on.

A senior company executive revealed that both will be reporting directly to Soon Kwon, MD of LG Electronics India. Though changes in the top management level  is an annual feature it is the first time that the company is undergoing sweeping changes at the headquarters. Falling short of their revenue target has led them to take the major step.

It is also believed that changes have been made in the company’s product group heads. .Manish Gupta, who was earlier the product group head for televisions, will now head microwave oven. Vijay Babu, who was heading microwave ovens, will be in charge of frost-free refrigerators while Praveen Gosain-presently regional manager for East zone two that includes markets like Orissa, Jharkhand and Bihar-will head direct-cool refrigerators. Vishal Karan, the regional manager for Bengaluru, has been made the chief of modern trade. All the changes will be effective from January 2013.

According to industry insiders LG has been trying to reposition itself as a premium brand but has made limited success since they face tough competition from Sony and Samsung who are considered to be more premium brands by Indian consumers.

India being their key growth market,  LG had expected their Indian operations to outgrow the parent company in the next few years.
