Malini Parthasarathy quits as Editor of the Hindu

Malini Parthasarathy stepping down as Editor of the Hindu on Tuesday created a big stir in the industry. Malini, the Hindu newspaper’s first-ever woman editor-in-chief joined the group in February 2015 and was spearheading the launch of the Mumbai edition. However, after the stint of 11 months she decided to quit owing to differences with company board over launch of Mumbai edition. As per the sources, she was extremely dissatisfied over the harsh judgements she was subjected to. Her decision of quitting the Kasturi and Sons led- organisation came very abruptly. Parthasarathy played a pivotal role in boosting the paper’s editorial capabilities with a team of strong and talented journos.

Prior to Parthasarathy, Siddharth Varadarajan departure also created quite a stir with many well-known journalists such as P. Sainath and national security specialist Praveen Swami also quitting the Chennai-based organisation.

Suresh Nambath, national editor of The Hindu, is appointed as interim editor.
