MAURYA TV beats the national and regional players in its market

Maurya TV has time and again proved its credibility and popularity among the masses. In the last three weeks, the channel has broken all records according to data provided by TAM media research. Not only this it has acquired another surmountable feat by recording a viewership which is 1.5 times higher than the No 2 channel regional channel in Bihar & Jharkhand.

Since its launch in early 2010, Maurya TV has consistently served the masses of Bihar and Jharkhand with news and entertainment relevant to them, which has in turn been received very well by the viewers.

Adgully talks to Manish Jha, Director, Maurya TV as he speaks about the channel’s achievements.

“Maurya TV has consistently been on the No 1 position since the last three weeks not only in comparision with regional channels but also national channels which are present in the market that we cater to; basically Bihar and Jharkand. Prior to this we have been no 1 for eight weeks consecutively. We are the only channel amongst our competitors which is based at Bihar. Thus we also have greater interactivity with our audiences,” says Manish.

Manish also delves on the aspects that have contributed to Maurya’s success in the genre.

“We provide honest news without being biased towards any political party. We have always portrayed the correct picture of the state. Most importantly, we are a channel which is the foray of Mr Prakash Jha. So, the credibility that we bring to the table has also helped us in bagging the no 1 position,” he said.

Manish also points out that Maurya TV has maximum penetration in the market. Elaborating further, he said, “We are available in almost every nook and corner of Bihar and Jharkhand. The people associate with the channel and believe that it voices and addresses their grievances. We believe that this is the most important factor which has helped us create consistency and provide differentiated content at the same time.”

Sharing insight into the content that has led the channel to achieve remarkable ratings, he said that Maurya TV provides a mix of news and entertainment. The primetime slot has been the leader. What sells is regional politics.

Manish adds that news genre per se is very monotonous because everybody provides the same news. “It becomes extremely necessary therefore to build a connect with the people. We have managed to do so as Maurya TV has always provided a platform to the masses to voice their grievances,” he says.

Maurya TV looks forward to further strengthening their position in the market by providing news that is honest and bias free. Manish Jha believes that it is Maurya’s core strength and they would never compromise on that.

On a final note, he exclaims that the channel is very focused in what it delivers and therefore is way beyond its competitors.
