MIB revamp: To shut down 5 offices of RNI and 8 regional offices of PIB

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) is in a revamping drive with the new I&B Secretary Ajay Mittal in the lead. In a massive re-organisation, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) has decided to close its eight regional offices across the country.

Five offices of the Registrar of Newspapers of India (RNI) – Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bhopal and Guwahati – have also been ordered to be closed by the MIB for the same reason.

Meanwhile, revamping of the Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP) is also on the card to filter ‘bogus’ newspapers.
