Mindshare appoints Karl Cluck as Chief Client Officer for Asia Pacific

Mindshare, the global media agency network that is part of WPP, has appointed Karl Cluck to the role of Chief Client Officer for Mindshare Asia Pacific.

In this role, Cluck will retain leadership over Mindshare’s Japan, Korea and Taiwan cluster, where he will continue working with local MDs to drive Mindshare’s business in these critical North Asia markets – additionally he will be overseeing all regional and major local clients for Mindshare across Asia Pacific, which includes many of the industry’s biggest brands. He will also be working with Mindshare’s regional client team leaders to drive their Adaptive Marketing proposition, which includes the establishment of the newly developed performance marketing FAST Hubs, creating more innovation and content initiatives via their content division Content+ and ensuring the delivery of investment value via GroupM.

In his previous role as CEO for Mindshare Japan, Korea and Taiwan, Cluck contributed to several account wins and team growth.

In Japan, he helped revive Mindshare’s offer by winning back clients like Nike and new assignments from Reckitt Benckiser and booking.com. His efforts are reflected in Mindshare Japan being awarded gold for 2014 Campaign Agency of the Year and silver for 2015 Agency of the Year in both media and digital categories.

Cluck helped establish Mindshare Korea and grew the team to over 20 people, with assignments from L’Oreal, Jaguar Land Rover and Boehringer Ingelheim.

He has been with Mindshare since 2006, when he joined as the planning lead on Unilever in China.

Commenting on the new role Cluck says:
“It’s an incredible opportunity to work with Ashutosh, Gowthaman and the Mindshare regional team and market leads to drive our Adaptive Marketing vision forward in Asia.  We’re lucky to have some of the most innovative clients in the world working with us — and I look forward to building on the success of the current team.”

Ashutosh Srivastava, CEO, AMEA & Russia/CIS, commented on the appointment:
“Karl has been behind some of our best work for clients in China & North Asia, and has helped build a strong reputation and relationship with clients in these offices. His irreverence for all things official and conventional, and his ability to combine this irreveraence with insightful media, market and consumer knowledge to arrive at creative solutions makes him a fabulous resource to have for any client-agency team. I look forward to him making a bigger impact, with more clients, in this new role.”

Cluck takes over from Roy Sudipto, who left the agency to become CEO of Developing Markets for WPP’s Tenth Avenue.

Cluck’s role is effective immediately.
