MK Anand bids adieu to Disney UTV; re-structuring underway

In another top level development at Disney UTV, MK Anand has called it quits as the Managing Director of Disney UTV Media Networks. Though sources close to the movement confirmed this, Anand remained unavailable to comment on this same. Adgully is also informed that Anand’s next destination will only be known by the first quarter next year.

Anand came aboard UTV before the company’s acquisition by Disney as the CEO of UTV Broadcasting in 2009. Back then, he headed Bindass, UTV Movies, Bindass Movies (now UTV Action) and UTV World Movies. Post the acquisition; the group also launched UTV Stars as a Bollywood news and entertainment channel.

Earlier this year, Disney had announced a major change as Ronnie Screwvala had decided to vacate the position of The Walt Disney Company India’s Managing Director making way for Siddharth Roy Kapur.

Sources also say that with these major top level exits, a re-structuring is underway at the group. While Kapur would be the top boss at Walt Disney Company India, various vertical heads would report directly to him. Currently, the Executive Directors are Nikhil Gandhi (Sales), Vijay Subramaniam(Product Planning Group), Bikram Duggal ( Director Marketing) and Indrajit Ray (Content). Sources however could not confirm the final shape of the group’s new structure.

As UTV Media Network’s MD, Anand looked after an elaborate bouquet of channels offered in the youth, movies and kids segment. Prior to joining UTV, Anand was the Business Head at Times Television Network’s Bollywood-lifestyle offering – Zoom. Before that he also worked at Bennett, Coleman & Company in the response department from 1990 to 2004.
