Movies to watch on Indian Army Day

Indian Army Day 2022: On January 15, India commemorates Army Day with great fervour. It is named after Field Marshal Kodandera Madappa Cariappa (K. M. Cariappa), the Indian Army's Commander-in-Chief. Every year, a military parade and other military exhibitions are held at Delhi Cantonment's Cariappa Parade Ground to commemorate the day. In 2022, we will commemorate the 74th Indian Army Day with nearly the same enthusiasm, enthusiasm, and devotion.

The Indian Army has been the subject of numerous Bollywood films. The Hindi cinema industry has attempted to convey the heroism and challenges of the Indian Army on the 70 mm screen, from the troops' valour to their sacrifice. Let us have a look at some of the films that have been created or are being made about the life of Indian Army bravehearts in honour of Army Day 2022:

URI: THE SURGICAL STRIKE

The surgical strike on Pakistan following the 2016 Uri incident is the subject of the 2019 Vicky Kaushal starred film. The film is thought to have grossed over Rs 342 crore at the box office, making it one of the all-time highest-grossing films.

BORDER

JP Dutta directed the multi-starrer film, which focused on the lives of different army officials and troops. Many of the film's sequences are reported to be based on genuine events that occurred during the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War's Battle of Longewala. The picture, which was released in 1997, has remained popular to this day. It received three national prizes as well as several Filmfare Awards.

FIELD MARSHAL SAM MANEKSHAW

Vicky will play the title character in Meghna Gulzar's forthcoming flick. During the 1971 Indo-Pakistan conflict, Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw was the Chief of the Army Staff. His life is shown in the film.

SHERSHAAH

The film stars Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani and is based on the life of Army Captain Vikram Batra. Captain Vikram was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra for sacrificing his life in the 1999 Kargil War while attempting to save a soldier. Karan Johar directed and produced the film.

LOC: KARGIL

Operation Vijay 1999 and the Battle of Tololing were the inspiration for the 2003 film. It, too, was directed by JP Dutta and had a large star cast, similar to Border. However, it drew a mixed reception from reviewers and the general public at the box office.
