MSLGROUP announces two significant senior hires

MSLGROUP, Publicis Groupe’s flagship strategic communications and engagement consultancy, and the largest public relations and social media network in India, today announced the appointment of two industry veterans to their fold – Amit Misra comes on board as Executive Vice President & Director – Public Affairs, MSLGROUP in Delhi and Rekha Rao, as General Manager in Mumbai of 20:20 MSL

Amit Misra will be the overall market leader for MSLGROUP for the Delhi market & the Practice Leader for the Public Affairs practice across India for MSLGROUP. In addition, he will also strategically collaborate with 20:20 MSL in Delhi for business development, PA, key client relationships and talent development.

In her role, Rekha Rao will report to Ian Sequeira, Senior VP at 20:20 MSL and will serve as a trusted advisor to colleagues and clients by leading her teams to build strong and robust operations and servicing functions for 20:20 MSL in Mumbai.  Her key responsibilities include operational performance, growth, profitability, talent management and client engagement.

Amit Misra is a seasoned communications professional with over 18 years of experience spanning corporate and consulting roles. Before joining MSLGROUP, Amit Misra was the Managing Director of Zeno Group, an Edelman Group Company and led the launch of their operations in India. Previously, he was Director responsible for Edelman’s Delhi NCR operations. Before this, Amit was a Director with APCO Worldwide where he launched their Strategic Communications Practice in India and also led the prestigious Government of Gujarat’s international investment promotion campaign which included managing their participation at WEF, Dalian. Before APCO, Amit worked at Hanmer & Partners as Vice President (North) where he successfully built the firm's footprint in North India, scaling up the business multi-fold in less than three years. Amit has also been the Head of Corporate Affairs and Communications at Essar Telecom (Indian partner of Hutch, now Vodafone) for over two years and also played a key role in starting operations for their online lottery business as well as at Paprika Media, the new media venture of Essar Group.

Rekha Rao specializes in FMCG, consumer and lifestyle PR and she has the distinction of working with global giants in this domain, Unilever & P&G. At Unilever, she has led brands like Fair and Lovely, Lifebuoy, Domex, Vim, Rin Huggies, & Kotex while for P&G she has led campaigns for Gillette, Vicks, Oral-B, Corporate, Shiksha, & Thank You Mom. Besides this she has also managed PR campaigns for major MNCs like Monsanto (BT Cotton Seeds), Revlon, Porsche, & Right Choice to name a few. Rekha has a proven track record on strategic brand property building, reputation management, adversity / crisis management, CSR, PPPs and corporate PR. Her work has been award winning (6 India SABREs, AFAQS) and has also created many firsts for her clients. Rekha Rao also has a strong creative background, having spent 12 years with advertisement agencies such as Leo Burnett, Lowe and Triton.
