MTV India sends 5 entries to Europe Music Awards 2013

The most coveted awards of the Year, the Europe Music Awards 2013 are here and Indians definitely have a reason to rejoice! The awards night which felicitates the best songs and artists of the year will see participation from India for the Best Worldwide Act Category! MTV India has sent five nominations - the God of Music A. R. Rahman, the Punjabi rapstar Yo Yo Honey Singh and the chartbusters of the year Badtameez Dil, Tum Hi Ho and Manjha.

The Worldwide Act Category will see participation of artists across genres and regions that have been divided into ten clusters. India is pitted against Africa and Middle East where MTV has nominated five artists/songs from each country. All they need now is support from their fans as they go head to head to emerge the finalist in their respective cluster.

Speaking about India’s participation in MTV EMA 2013, Aditya Swamy, EVP and Business Head, MTV India said, “Our music and our musicians have a global impact and their tunes are connecting with millions across the world. Having 5 Indian artists nominated at one of the world biggest music platforms says so much about what we have going on in India. These are once in a life time opportunities and we are excited to be able to make it happen.”

On being nominated the ever-humble A. R. Rahman said, “It feels extremely nice to be nominated, especially an awards like EMA which recognizes musicians on a global scale. I am keeping my fingers crossed… may the lucky one win.”

Honey Singh on the nomination said, “I am super thrilled to be nominated for the Worldwide Act Category… especially along with Sir A R Rahman. It’s a huge honour for me. The track Bring Me Back is very close to my heart and I am happy I am nominated for this song. I would like to urge all my fans to show their support and vote for me.”
