Multiple frequencies row: Now, India Today TV trains its guns at Times Now

In a fresh twist in the ongoing row over channels transmitting on multiple frequency feeds, India Today Television has now filed a complaint against Times Now for using multiple frequencies.

India Today Television has filed the complaint with the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) and has also urged the Broadcast Audience Research Council of India (BARC) not to release viewership data for Times Now.

This development comes close on the heels of all English news channels deciding to pull out of BARC and also removing the watermarking system with immediate effect after the Council didn’t heed to the NBA asking it not to release Republic TV’s viewership data in light of the multiple frequencies row.

With India Today Television filing a complaint against Times Now, one wonders whether cracks are developing in the English news channels’ joint decision. It will be interesting to see how Times Now responds to this complaint.
