Delivering a keynote address at the second edition of GAMEXX Summit & Awards 2022, Soumi Banerjee, Senior Manager, MyGov India, presented what MyGov is all about. Speaking on the topic, ‘Gaming for Citizen Engagement: The MyGov Experience’, Banerjee elaborated, “MyGov is a citizen engagement platform by the Government of India. It connects the public to the platform of government and disseminates various information into the policymaking and roles of what the government actually takes forward to the citizens. It’s a two-way communication, where the government puts policies into the framework, further engaging citizens across various platforms, and modes and providing communication between citizens and the government. MyGov engages with citizens through various quizzes. Launched in 2014, it has now over 2.5 crore of registered users on the platform itself. Not just this, MyGov is now available in 18 states across the country.”

Talking about the gaming aspects of MyGov, Banerjee said, “MyGov also has a quiz platform. It is basically a platform wherein people play and look into certain very important guidelines or decisions which the government takes, but how do they connect to the people? It is through the only platform, which is the quiz. There will be a lot of quizzes that will be available on the platform itself. The names of the winners are published later. The government connects with the citizens through these quizzes and once you play, you earn reward points. Gathering these points, you can actually go ahead and show these across your engagements with the government.”

Talking more about the different platforms that MyGov has to offer, she explained, “MyGov has a 3-pillar engagement flow, which involves a DO, DISCUSS, DISSEMINATE flow. Do it for activities of citizen engagement. Discuss involves inviting citizen’s input on an important issue. Disseminate involves the active and timely dissemination of information. MyGov has a following of 1.3 million on Facebook and a 3.1 million Twitter following. We are also present on Indian platforms like Roposo and more. They also have a name for people who engage with them, known as ‘Saathis’. Various logos of the government that you see are crowdsourced by the MyGov platform and the MyGov Saathis.”

Banerjee further said that MyGov has a page wherein people are invite to be influencers and also connect with the platform through various blogs. “We tell the people to work on multiple research topics that are of interest to them and which they can post it on the MyGov platform. This will help the government to work along with you to find out what actually needs to be worked upon,” she added.
