Myntra reveals 'India's Most Fashionable Politician'

With politics bagging center-stage in conversations in a run up to the outcome of Lok Sabha elections, India’s leading online fashion store, Myntra.com, has announced the results of its “India’s Most Fashionable Politician” online survey. The survey draws responses from customers and fan base, ranking the dressing sense of influential politicians on the basis of their style and fashion quotient.

Myntra.com, the ‘personal stylist’ for the style conscious Indian consumer, with its aim to transform the online shopping space, offers a global and holistic experience to its consumers by offering the most in-season merchandise. With elections being the focal point of the season, Myntra.com decided to poll its huge customer base spread across the country, to see which politician is considered a fashion icon, if at all, and which one dresses the best. The results have been thrilling.

Politicians surveyed include: Manmohan Singh, Narendra Modi, Sonia Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal along with younger politicians such as Rahul Gandhi, Sachin Pilot, Omar Abdullah, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Akhilesh Yadav.

While Narendra Modi tops the survey on multiple parameters including the ‘Best Dressing Sense’ category, his political rival Sachin Pilot has been voted as the most stylish and exuberant politician.

Key Observations of the Survey: (Infographic attached)

76% people polled, agree that Narendra Modi looks elegant in Indian kurta-pyjama while Shashi Tharoor (41%) looks the most tasteful in a James Bond styled 3-piece suit

31.3% of the respondents believe the stylish Sachin Pilot can give models a run for their money

While 36.7% respondents feel Narendra Modi looks younger than his age due to his dressing sense, Sonia Gandhi came a close second with 31.6% of votes

Narendra Modi was again seen leading in the ‘Best Dressing Sense’ category with Sachin Pilot and Jyotiraditya Scindia following him in second and third spots, respectively

Talking about colors, respondents seem to think that ‘White’ looks most elegant on Manmohan Singh while ‘Black’ suits Shashi Tharoor the best

This survey by Myntra.com takes a look at a different side of our political leaders – at the changing ways in which the country and its youth view the executive decision makers for their fashion sense! Gone are the days when politicians are expected to be dressed only in one particular kind of clothing, could get away with oddly matched outfits and a wardrobe filled with the same colour in four different shades. Similar to employees in every other job, even politicians are expected to be presentable and well-dressed, particularly since they represent India on a global platform.
