Neel Chowdhury, quits Network 18 joins Obopay as CMO & VP

Neel Chowdhury quits Network 18's CNBC and has joined Obopay as chief marketing officer (CMO) and Vice president (VP).

Obopay - is a California based Startup Company and has been in India for couple of years with offices in Bangalore and Mumbai.

In an exclusive chat with Adgully, Chawdhury explaines, "I am very excited about my role in Obopay. The fact that mobile commerce and mobile penetration is so much on the rise, in India there so many people who are unbanked, there are so many places where banks can't set up. With mobile phone you can really do so much now. With Obopay you can really transact, send money, receive money, and make payments so it's like a mobile wallet."

In CNBC Network 18, Chawdhury served as VP and Marketing (Head). He has a vast marketing experience in various companies in different spaces. He has worked with consumer goods companies like - Nabisco and Pepsico.

Besides this, Chawdhury also has the experience of working with Telecommunication Companies like - Tata Teleservices and Bharti as chief marketing officer (COO) and Marketing (Head) respectively.

On coming back to the telecommunication industry he sums up saying, "More than the industry it is the possible futuristic model that attracted me. Actually, the idea that is going to take-off is empowering the people to make their life simpler. So at the end of the day I am a consumer facing guy so it comes back to make the consumer's life simpler."
