Netflix experiments with scheduled programming; launches Netflix 'Direct' in France

Streaming service Netflix has announced its foray into scheduled programming by launching its first linear content TV channel in France. Dubbed Netflix Direct, the service will be subscription based and will feature International and US feature films as well as TV series which are available on the platform. The TV channel will be available in select regions of France and will continue to expand until December.

The TV channel will only be accessible by the service's web browser, unlike its streaming service, which is found on set-top-boxes due to distribution deals with French telcos such as Orange, Canal Plus and SFR. It chose France as its test market due to the consumption of traditional TV in France.

This is not a regular TV channel but something that you can access via Netflix's website.
