Netflix testing more subscribers plans to offer Indian users flexibility

After the success of the Rs 199/month mobile only plan, Netflix is testing a half yearly and yearly subscription plan discounted as high as 50% according to media reports. Currently, Netflix offers four subscription plans – Rs 199/month, Rs 499/month, Rs 649/month, and Rs 799/month.

Reed Hastings in the Q3 earnings had remarked “we've been very, very happy with the mobile plan. It's actually performing better than we tested.”

Reports of the new plan have also surface when Netflix is strengthening its movie library to encourage more users to subscribe to their service. The OTT player recently launched ‘The Irishman’ directed by Martin Scorsese, which it claims has reached 26 million streams in the first week of release. It is also planning a new series on the founding story of Spotify and has other blockbuster films in the pipeline such as 6 Underground, The Two Popes and more.

Earlier this month, Reed Hastings who was at a press conference in Delhi stated that Netflix would invest Rs 3000 crore on original and syndicated content just in India.
