Netizens question Fanta's awkward timing for its recent campaign on Team India

Just when there was a bit of silence all around after India lost repeatedly in ICC T20's Men World Cup, Fanta's  #RangJa anthem has again annoyed all the cricket fans who created a buzz on Twitter as the soda brand started the campaign promotions just a day after India’s loss against New Zealand on Sunday. A foot-tapping, high-octane tune, the Fanta celebration song was an invitation to all cricket fans to assemble and experience the joy and liberation of staying #Colorful in this black & white period. The anthem also reminds them about the fun-filled world beyond the existing, serious boundaries of cricket. It features cricket SuperFans – the most vibrant and loud supporters of their teams—and is shot over six different locations around the world, including India, Australia, England, West Indies and Sri Lanka.

As the initiative by the soda brand was to support and cheer our team during the match, the selected timing to promote this campaign was not right according to the neitizens as the Indian team’s performance was disheartning for all the cricket fans this season.

Communications strategy consultant Karthik Srinivasan said: "I understand Fanta has an official tie-up with the tournament or BCCI/ICC for this campaign, but couldn't they read the room and make for some concessions with regard to the timing of their campaign cadence? A promoted tweet and a promoted trend, a day after India lost very badly to New Zealand and are destined to be out of the tournament (unless some miracles happen with regard to a couple of other teams and matches) seems like really awkward timing."

After these comments that questioned the awkward timing of the advertisement, Fanta removed the first ad message from their Twitter's official id.
