New NDTV management plans to relaunch NDTV Profit

The new management at NDTV is considering to relaunch NDTV’s now-defunct business channel, NDTV Profit, which was shut down in 2018, the management members told the channel’s employees during a town hall meeting held the other day.

In the meeting, held after the Adani takeover of the channel, staff members raised concerns over the news channel’s editorial freedom, further expansion plans, pay structure, and the fact that BJP spokespersons were not entertained on new debates, according to a News Laundry report.

NDTV president Suparna Singh, in her message to the employees, had stated that she knew that employees had many questions. Those concerns will be addressed in due course.

The hour-long meeting, held at NDTV’s Greater Kailash office, was attended by Singh, along with the new board of directors: Senthil Sinniah Chengalvarayan and Sanjay Pugalia.

One of the employees also asked why BJP spokespersons are not appearing on the NDTV’s shows.

One of the employees said that the discussion was positive.

Staffers raised concerns whether they would get the same kind of journalistic freedom they had enjoyed till now. Pugalia assured them that NDTV’s core DNA is its credibility.

Employees also asked about the pay structure and the channel’s financial condition. The management assured them that there will be improvement in the pay structure, which remained unchanged all these years.

No staff members asked about ex-owners Prannoy Roy or Radhika Roy.
