News18 India, CNN-News18 continue dominance on viewership charts
Network18 once again scored a double gold with its Hindi and English news channels comprehensively beating competitors to retain the top spots in the latest viewership ratings chart.
In the Hindi general news segment, News18 India beat Aaj Tak, India TV, TV9 Bharatvarsh and Republic Bharat, while in the English general news segment CNN-News18 trounced Republic TV, Times Now, Mirror Now and India Today Television.
News18 India secured 15.9% relative market share in the first week of the New Year and 15.8% in the second week, as per data released by the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC). (Market share%, 24 hrs, TG: 15+, HSM, Wk 50’22-Wk 02’23, All days).
News18 India now has a 20% more market share than the second-ranked Aaj Tak, which could garner only 13.2% relative market share in the two weeks, data showed.
In the English general news segment, CNN-News18 gained 1.8% relative market share, retaining the top slot with 33.0% relative market share in the first week and 34.7% in the second week, comprehensively beating Republic TV, which trailed with 29.9% and 27.8% relative market share. CNN-News18 is now a whopping 80% ahead of third-ranked Times Now in terms of market share.
News18 India also maintained its lead in the Prime Time (1800-2400 hrs) and 9pm slots, amassing 26% and 14% more market share, respectively, than Aaj Tak.
While CNN-News18 was way ahead in the Prime Time Core TG (1800-2300 hrs) slot, securing 61% more market share than Times Now.
Both News18 India and CNN-News18 has been industry leaders since the resumption of BARC’s viewership data in March of 2020. Network18 Group’s regional news channels also continue to be leaders in their respective segments.
