Non-profit 'The PRomise Foundation' for PR is launched

The PRomise Foundation for Public Relations, a non-profit with a goal of doing PR for Public Relations has been launched by a group of young Indian professionals based in different parts of India and the world who work at various PR firms and in-house in corporate communications departments within organizations. This was announced by Akshar Yadav and Amith Prabhu, Founder Trustees – The PRomise Foundation.

The first initiative is a scholarship for post-graduate students of Public Relations where a student in a full time programme can win up to Rupees Fifty Thousand. All one has to do is register and write an essay on “Public Relations needn't always be a short-term fix for businesses; it can be a critical strategic communications tool too”. Details are available at www.promisefoundation.com

There are three other initiatives planned in the first phase of the roll-out of the Foundation. These will be announced in the near future. The flagship event will be the first National Weekend Public Relations Conference in November. Full-time professionals volunteer to manage the Foundation through a virtual secretariat in their spare time.

The Foundation has a Board of Advisors consisting of senior professionals from academics, media, corporate communications, marketing and business. A Board of Mentors comprises country heads of the leading Public Relations firms. The younger professionals consist of Supporters and Friends who contribute time and ideas to the smooth running of the various initiatives.

The founding Friends of the Foundation are Shane Jacob, Shrey Khetarpal, Shreysi Chandra, Ajit Pai, Mariam Joseph, Supriya Morde, Liza Saha, Chiku Somaiya, Bodhisatya Basu Thakur, Umesh Nair. All these young professionals represent the leading PR firms.

Quote from Founder Trustees - “We felt it was time for PR professionals across the board to collectively work to enhance the reputation of a profession that has been misunderstood lately. We realized the best way to do our bit is to group together and focus on three or four initiatives that create a forum for practitioners of all ages – right from the student who is yet to begin a career going up to the leader in the business who has spent decades in the profession. This is a small step in the right direction and we believe this effort will go a long way in making a difference to the true-blue professional”.
