Now, Parminder Singh quits Twitter; Maya Hari made MD-India, SEA

Twitter has lost two of its top rung executives in the Asia Pacific in the course of two days. Close on the heels of the exit of Rishi Jaitly, Twitter India Head, now Parminder Singh, Managing Director - Twitter (Southeast Asia/ India/ MENA), has put in his papers.

Singh announced his decision to move on in a series of posts on Twitter today. He tweeted: “An update. After leading Twitter in Asia’s most exciting markets (India/SEA/MENA) for 3 yrs, time to move on to new passions #BeenAPrivilege”.

On his next move, Singh tweeted: “Next steps - explore disruptive models to add value to Digital Content in Asia & step up pace to use technology for good!

#FutureForward.”

He had joined Twitter in November 2013 from Google, where he was Managing Director - Display Solution Sales, APAC. He had joined Google as Business Head in October 2007 and was later promoted to Director, Online Media Sales - Asia Pacific in April 2010 and then to MD - Display Solution Sales, APAC, in March 2012.

In the course of his career, Singh has also worked with IBM, Apple and HCL.

Singh mentioned in his tweets that the INSEA/ MENA region is now split, with MENA aligned to EMEA and INSEA aligned to APAC region. Following this, INSEA will be managed by Maya Hari, Managing Director, Twitter & Board advisor in Data & Commerce, while MENA will be looked after by Benjanin Ampen, currently Head of Revenue, Middle-East & North Africa at Twitter. “Both great professionals, have worked with me closely & well suited to drive growth,” Singh wrote.

Meanwhile, as is known, Rishi Jaitly, Twitter’s India Head, announced his decision to move in a similar manner on October 31, 2016, where he had tweeted: “Today, after 4 years of user/ business momentum in India & the region, I’m sharing my intention to move on to new opportunities, same mission”.

He further wrote: “My mission remains the same: harness tech/ media’s scale to connect users/ citizens to their voice/ agency/ leadership in places they care about”.
