NYF’s International Television & Film Awards announces Grand Jury

New York Festivals International Television & Film Awards competition has announced the 2017 Grand Jury. To date, this year’s powerhouse Grand Jury of prominent international broadcast and film industry executives represents 34 countries on six continents. The 60+ women on the jury are directors, producers, journalists, writers, and filmmakers who are passionate about excellence and innovation. The Grand Jury panel’s stellar reputation and diverse areas of expertise across all platforms ensure that this peer-judging process provides each entry with the attention it deserves.

“The level of commitment that our Grand Jury has shown is an inspiration to us all. In addition to creating award-winning programs, they are dedicated to sharing their knowledge by reviewing entries submitted from dozens of countries around the world,” said Rose Anderson, Executive Director, New York Festivals International Television & Film Awards. “We look for wide experience and demonstrated achievement in our jury members as a way of providing a balanced jury and quantifying fairness in the selection process.”

The roster of companies represented in the Grand Jury are among the worldwide leaders in news, sports, entertainment, the arts, promos, film and brand/corporate image. They include ESPN, NBC, ZDF, Al Jazeera, TV Globo, BBC, Deutsche Welle, FOX, Fuji, Telemundo, Showtime, The Edge Picture Company, GoPro, Interspot Film, and SP Televisão.

Grand Jury members view and score entries based on industry-accepted standards of excellence using a scale of 1 to 10 for the following set of criteria: Production Values, Creativity, Content Presentation, Direction, Writing, Achievement of Purpose and Audience Suitability. Based on the medal-round scores from the Grand Jury, winners receive one of the following: Gold World Medal, Silver World Medal, Bronze World Medal, or Finalist Certificate. The highest scoring entries receive the Grand Trophy honoring “Best in Show”. Special industry awards include:  Broadcaster of the Year, Production Company of the Year, and Program Promotion Team of the Year.

NYF’s World’s Best TV & Films competition has celebrated content in all lengths and forms since 1957 and continues to honor exceptional programming being created around the globe. The deadline to enter the 2017 competition is October 15, 2016.

The 2017 Television & Film Awards gala will take place at the annual NAB Show in Las Vegas on April 25th, 2017. This is the seventh year that NYF and their official partner, NAB Show, will present the competition to more than 103,000 media and entertainment professionals from 187 countries, including 1,608 industry press representatives, and over 1,800 exhibiting companies.

Award-winning entries will be showcased on the NYF Television & Film Awards website.
