Nykaa debuts on Dalal Street; Twitter splits into IPO haves and have nots

Nykaa made its debut on the bourses today and its Initial Public Offer (IPO) was subscribed 82 times. The beauty start-up, founded by ex-Kotak Bank’s Falguni Nayar, saw its market capitalisation cross Rs 1 lakh crore. Nykaa sold its shares via the IPO over a three-day period.

Following the IPO, Nayar has become the most wealthy self-made female billionaire in India, with a personal worth of about $6.5 billion as shares of the firm rose 89% when they started trading today.

Social media has been seeing a surfeit of chatter on the Nykaa IPO, with several memes on those whose shares were allotted and those who missed out on the IPO.
