Online activity of Indians peak during primetime band across zones: MiQ

Market Intelligence and Analytics platform, MiQ has released its ‘Mood of the Nation’ report which tracks online behavior of Indians to generate marketing insights.

The report finds that despite the countries being in different zones of the lockdown (Green, Yellow and Red) the online activity of all Indians peaks during the primetime band. There has been a marked increase in search queries using keywords like ‘watch online video, ‘IMDb’, ‘online game’, and ‘online movie’ as consumers seek on demand entertainment options.

There has been an increase in search volumes for health and lifestyle keywords such as ‘beauty tips’, ‘exercise’, ‘quick recipe’, and ‘multivitamins’ indicating that health consciousness has become a focus during lockdown.

Consumers are slowly tiring of lockdown as there has been an increase in search volumes for the keyword ‘when can we travel’. Also, people at home have increased their engagement with the finance market as queries such as ‘buy stock’, ‘trading’ and ‘stocks’ see a growth.

The flipside is that consumers are looking to conserve cash and are not looking to borrow money for big purchases. This is indicated by decline in queries such as ‘buy house’, ‘buy car’, ‘home loan’, and ‘car loan’.
