Orchard plants orchards

While advertising agencies are busy creating campaigns to get others to “Go Green”, Orchard Advertising, part of The Leo Burnett Group India, has chosen to “Go Green” by planting tree orchards for farmers.

“Planting a tree is the single most effective action an individual or organisation can take to truly heal the earth” says Janet, Founder, Treesforfree.org, the tree planting partner of Orchard Advertising.

She further adds, “We can turn off lights, use LED lights and drive an electric car to reduce our emissions. But this slows down the rate of global warming. Only trees cool the globe and reverse global warming as only trees can absorb the greenhouse gases and act as carbon sinks.”

“Orchard is a great place to grow - for clients, employees and trees too! We are doing our bit and we encourage each citizen to do their bit in making our country and planet greener and cleaner,” says Kaizad Pardiwalla, Chief Operating Officer, Orchard Advertising.

Neha Contractor, Senior VP and Branch Head, Orchard Bangalore, adds, “We are planting fruit orchards for poor farmers to provide a sustainable livelihood and to also support biodiversity. The program is a long term engagement with trees being planted in the urban landscape as well as on a larger scale in the rural areas to maximise the ecological healing.”

Neel Roy and Vinod Eshwer, Executive Creative Directors, Orchard Advertising, say, “What’s the point of investing in wealth, property and money for our kids, if we can’t give them clean air to breathe, fresh water to drink and birdsong to wake up to? All of which trees ensure. This is not corporate responsibility. It is our collective responsibility as individuals.”
