Pankaj Advani beats Australia's Ben Nunan at SangSom Six Red World Championship!

7-time world champion Pankaj Advani defeated Australia's Ben Nunan 5-4 on day one of the SangSom Six Red World Championship in Bangkok. With this win Pankaj will now play home favorite Thepchaiya Un-Nooh and England's Andrew Higginson on Day 2 of the championships.

Playing a best of 9 frames, Ben Nunan put up a tough fight taking the lead in the first 3 frames, while Pankaj fought for the next three to equalize the score. Pankaj continued his good form and played neck to neck with Nunan to draw at 4-4 at the end of 8 frames. With scores leveled, the match was down to the wire with a black ball draw where Pankaj proceeded to pocket the match 5-4.

With two more days of Round Robin matches, Pankaj will hope to build momentum to ensure a guaranteed berth amongst the last 32.

When most athletes only begin to peak, Pankaj Advani has already won most of the championships his game has to offer, many times over. The 7-time World Champion in Billiards and Snooker won his first world title when he was just 18 and is the only Asian to have ever won both the Billiards and Snooker world championships.

One of the youngest Indians to be honoured with the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award, Pankaj has also been conferred the Padma Shri and Arjuna awards.

Widely admired for his calm and intense focus while competing, he is known for being an ardent vegetarian and teetotaler. The suave young achiever is quite a fashionista and has walked the ramp as showstopper for top designers such as Wendell Rodricks, Babita Malkani, Manoviraj Khosla, Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna.
