'Piku', 'Bajirao Mastani' lead the nominations at TOIFA 2016 Dubai

The race for better than the best for TOIFA 2016 has begun as the nominations in the popular category has been announced across categories. TOIFA 2016, scheduled to take place in Dubai on March 17&18 at the Dubai International Stadium, Dubai Sports City.

This year’s TOIFA 2016 nominations have shown mélange in almost every category ranging from films to debut directors. The year 2015 was ruled by new film concepts, extraordinary usage of technology, stirring screenplay and unforgettable performances. While Piku has racked up with the highest number nominations across categories, Tanu Weds Manu Returns has bagged the second highest number of nominations followed by Bajirao Mastani.

TOIFA 2016 will have different award categories including best film, best male actor, best female actor, best director, best supporting actor, amongst others. Not sidelining the unconventional movies of 2015, Titli, Masaan, NH10, Hunterrr and Dum Lagake Haisha have also identified their space for their interesting and off-beat story telling.

With TOIFA 2016 reaching out to international audiences, it is up to the global Bollywood fans to decide through their votes which movies and artists will take the coveted TOIFA award back home.

This year the leader board for the TOIFA 2016 music category nominations has Bajirao Mastani, Dum Lagake Haisha and Hamari Adhuri Kahani. TOIFA 2016 nominations has a healthy mix of expected and the unexpected; and ranges across genres. Amongst playback singers, Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal top the nominations for their super hit songs.

TOIFA 2016 has six distinct categories to identify and accolade the artists behind the tunes that had us humming all year. The categories include Best Album, Best Play Back Singer(Male and Female), Best Lyricist, Music Composer of the Year, and Song of the Year.
