PIX viewership surge; Tops the chart with 18.5 GRPs

PIX has set a new record all over again!!! English movie channel PIX with its legacy of showcasing engaging, entertaining and superlative content has drawn the most viewership in Week 23 (29th May ' 4th June). According to data from TAM Media Research PIX is the No. 1 channel in the English movie channels genre.

After breaking viewership records in 2009 with Slumdog Millionaire, PIX has once again set a record with "The Karate Kid', which is now the highest rated movie since Slumdog Millionaire with 0.57 TVR (aired on Sun. 29th May at 9 p.m. and 11.55 p.m.). The channel has garnered the highest time spent per viewer (TSV) in 5 as well as 6 metros. PIX, once again proves it is the channel with the best movies as a staggering 12 movies out of the Top 20 movies on TV were aired on PIX!

Commenting on the channel's continuing success, an elated Sunder Aaron, Business Head, PIX says, "First of all I would like to thank all our viewers for their support in making PIX the No. 1 channel in the category. PIX is the highest rated channel in 5, 6 and 8 metros and all India, and has also recorded the highest time spent per viewer. Our aim this year was to boost the channel's performance and increase our market share to 28% by December. A couple of months into the new fiscal and PIX is now at 30% market share in all day and 33% in prime time in the category! We appreciate the support from our viewers and will continue to strive to meet their expectations".

PIX has also established itself as a clear leader in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata where the channel is significantly ahead of HBO, Star Movies and Movies Now. PIX aims to remain in the top thanks to a strategic association with Sony Pictures Television (SPT), which gives the channel access to the biggest new releases from the top Hollywood studio. Films that will be aired on PIX in 2011 as part of this arrangement includes: The Golden Globe winner and Oscar nominated film- The Social Network; Eat, Pray, Love, Salt, Resident Evil: Afterlife and Grown Ups.
