Prasar Bharati Advisor reviews DD’s content mix, audience base

Sunil Arora, Advisor, Prasar Bharati, undertook a comprehensive review of DD National at a meeting held in Delhi yesterday with the senior officials of Doordarshan. He reviewed the content mix, methodology of audience research and slotting process of the programmes and advised DD officials to follow the best practices from the industry. He also reviewed the marketing strategies and efforts being made to augment revenues for Doordarshan.

Arora emphasised that DD should leverage the flagship schemes of the Government to showcase its developmental initiatives.

Supriya Sahu, Director-General, Doordarshan, along with ADGs and other officials of Doordarshan were present in the meeting.

There was also an interactive session on how to improve programming and audience base of Doordarshan, which should reflect in the weekly BARC ratings. Arora also reviewed the Films and DTH policy of DD.

He also paid a keen attention to the HR issues of DD, especially late promotions in the Programme Cadre, where officers are languishing for decades together without a single regular promotion and how it is affecting the day-to-day functioning of the organisation.

The Prasar Bharati Advisor also had a detailed discussion with the creative team of DD and showed active interest in the new initiatives undertaken in the past three months and future plans of DD to improve its image and audience base.
