Publicis Worldwide to shut one Bengaluru unit

Publicis Groupe has taken the decision to shut one of its two Bengaluru divisions which serviced clients of its creative agency, Publicis Worldwide. The division has been closed because most of the client’s work was being done from their Mumbai office.

Meanwhile, global media reports state that the agency network is undergoing furloughs, staff and salary cuts across the organisation. In a statement released to the press, the agency states that this development was already in process and not a consequence of Covid-19.

“This development is not related to the COVID-19 crisis and was already in process, well prior to the pandemic impacting India. This is an isolated agency unit measure and not a holding company-wide or an agency-wide development. Publicis Worldwide (PWW) ran two divisions out of Bengaluru; one of which is being discontinued because the clients were getting most of their work done out of other centres such as Mumbai. The rest of the teams of Publicis Worldwide continue to operate out of Bengaluru. The focus and priority for Publicis Groupe across markets, all through COVID-19, has been to protect its workforce and we’ve ensured minimal impact to them; while at the same time, strengthening and supporting our client relationships” a Publicis Groupe spokesperson commented.
