Radio Mirchi celebrates 9 years in the business!

Mumbai's hottest radio station, Radio Mirchi, turned 9 on Thursday, 21st April, and celebrated the occasion with great music and merriment. It was a day of festivities as the hot Abhishek Bachhan kick started the celebrations when he jammed with RJ Jeeturaaj on Hi Mumbai. Mirchi listeners were enthused to hear the cool and dapper Abhishek Bachhan who begun the musical melee by rapping his latest song "Thayn Thayn' from "Dum Maaro dum' on Hi Mumbai.

For the nine hours that followed, from noon to 9pm, there were various music talents singing live on air. Mirchi was brimming with excitement as some of the biggest names of the music industry visited the Mirchi studio, sang live on air and made it a Mirchidaar birthday. Mirchi listeners heard some great melodies from Mohit Chauhan, Amit Trivedi, Anu Malik, Richa Sharma, Sona Mohapatra, Mahalaxmi Iyer, Lalit Pandit, Neeraj Sridhar, Shilpa Rao, Neelesh Mishra, Master Saleem, Bappi Lahiri, Aditi Singh Sharma and Amitabh Bhattacharya who were live and unplugged on the airwaves. Their magical renditions of their favourite songs live on air was a treat for Mirchi listeners.

The virtuoso music composer Anu Malik cut the birthday cake and sang the special birthday song "Radio Mirchi ka teekha birthday ho gaya meetha birthday' for the Mirchi fans.

Radio Mirchi has always supported social initiatives and today was no different. Radio Mirchi pledged its support to the NGO "Hamara Footpath', which educates children living on the streets of Mumbai through sport, dance and fun workshops. Mirchi RJs invited listeners to send SMS-es throughout the 9 hours as a show of solidarity to the efforts of the NGO. Listeners supported the cause by typing Radio space nau and sending it to 58888. For each message sent, Radio Mirchi contributed Rs 5 to the NGO! Mirchi's musical celebrations with a purpose!
