Rajan Shahi's -'Guddu beds Gudden' depicts a quirky take on marriage

Producer Rajan Shahi has produced his first web series Love Sex and Viagra and is already on to his second one called Guddu beds Gudden. The new series will showcase a quirky take on marriage.

Talking about the subject, he says, “Guddu beds Gudden will be released immediately after Love Sex and Viagra, somewhere in July or early August. The concept and the character have been created by Bhavna Vyas, who has been writing Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai from last 6 years. And I was really impressed by the entire take on Indian Marriages shown in the series. It's very funny and has got quirky characters and a very interesting script. This is totally different from what you see in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. The team has worked very hard to get an interesting cast on board.  I think Guddu beds Gudden will be a hit, or at least people will talk about it,” he says.

Talking about the process of making a web series, Rajan says that his team is doing a great job. He adds that the content of the web series is also based on what their target group wants to see. “You should enjoy what you make and the process of making it. I have a creative and dynamic team, which  has already been working in Director's Kut Productions. So I think it is their hard work and efforts that is working, I am just supporting them. So I think it's not about TV shows or web series, it's all about targeting a particular audience which you are confident of,” he says.

Love Sex And Viagra also got a great response from the audience. Talking about it, he says, “Love Sex and Viagra, I am extremely happy for the team and the people involved in this web series because the first three episodes got very good response. It has been extremely encouraging."

Rajan opted for newcomers for both his series as he feels they can do justice to the characters in the best way. “The USP of Love Sex and Viagra and Guddu beds Gudden are the unique characters created by the writers and the directorial team. You need fresh faces who can do justice to the characters. Plus, there is so much talent in our industry today and everybody doesn't get a proper break. There are many talented people in these two web series, who have finally got a chance to act,” he says.

The content of both the web series is very different from Rajan’s shows on the tube. The producer says that this was his team’s idea. “A very strong conviction came from the team that we should not limit our company to the kind of shows that I want to do or the kind of show what Director's Kut Production usually does. These are the shows that the directorial team, writer and the whole team of DKP believes in and I want to support this kind of a talent ,” he says.

Now that he has covered shows and web series, Rajan says that he would like to produce a film too. “I have never planned anything in my career. It all depends on the subject. I am extremely keen to produce films but it should be an interesting subject which the entire team would love to work on,” he says.

As for the future, he says, “Future plans are that I want to do more shows on TV. We have developed a lot of subjects and we want to explore the digital platform seriously. I want to take it ahead in a very interesting manne
