Reckitt Benckiser moves Patanjali to Court over Harpic v/s Green Flush ad

Reckitt Benckiser (India) Ltd, Harpic toilet cleaner’s parent company and Baba Ramdev’s Indian FMCG brand Patanjali are in a lawsuit tiff with each other over an advertisement with product similarities on their Toilet Cleaner product range.

Reckitt Benckiser has also moved to the Delhi High Court with the plea to look into the matter. The matter of concern for the company is that Patanjali’s Green Flush Toilet Cleaner’s ad has illusive similarities with Reckitt Benckiser product Harpic’s ad. The Court has scheduled the next hearing on 11th January 2018.

Reckitt Benckiser claims that Patanjali had gone above and beyond aping and mocking Harpic’s ad and has also copied the pattern and shape of the Harpic bottle, and copied its labelling and usage instructions. It also alleged that Patanjali’s Green Flush toilet cleaner’s advertisement is evasive and does not comply with its claim of being an “organic product”.
