Reliance Comm allocates separate media duties to MEC India and OMD India

Reliance Communication has decided to allocate separate media duties to MEC India and OMD India, two agencies which were brought on board by the firm in August 2010. MEC India will take care of media requirements for RCOM businesses whereas Omnicom Media (OMD) India will deal with the corporate media mandate for Reliance Group. The development will come in effect from march 2012.

Sanjay Behl, Group Head, Brand & Marketing Reliance confirmed the development to Adgully. Though Behl refused to disclose the official size but told us that the account size would be around 200 crore plus.

Commenting on the development, Behl said, "We are reconsidering our media services among the two agencies. MEC, a GroupM entity, will handle media requirements of RCOM businesses, while Omnicom Media (OMD) will handle the corporate media mandate for Reliance Group."

Further explaining on the development, he said, "RCOMM businesses are with MEC and will handle media planning and buying for the wireless business, whether its wireless data or wireless voice or direct-to-home whereas all the corporate campaign accounts will be handled by OMD "
