Reputation – a valuable currency in the trust economy: Nandita Lakshmanan

“In many ways the events of 2020 have made us go back to the basics,” remarked Nandita Lakshmanan, Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer, The Practice, adding, “I have lived long enough to say that everything about the last decade was, to me, excessive.”

Speaking at a special event to launch Adgully’s premier property – Powerful Influencers 2020 – on the topic ‘Reputation: A Valuable Currency In The Trust Economy’, Nandita Lakshmanan pointed out how technology has swept us off our feet, introducing us to new ways of living, bring to us choices, experiences that we’d never imagined and pushing us to directions that we choose to follow, albeit a bit reluctantly. “In all of this, while we open ourselves up to the world that has brought us significant benefits that really cannot happen without trust,” she added.

Further laying stress on the importance of trust and the value it holds in this disrupted and ever changing ecosystem, Lakshmanan noted that with issues of data privacy, fake news, etc., the world entered the pandemic wounded and it revealed the fragility and resilience of our ecosystems. She further said that the pandemic highlighted the society’s excessiveness, inefficiencies and inadequacies.

She also highlighted how this year has brought the ‘Public’ back into Public Relations as businesses increased their focus on stakeholder engagement. Leaders in every system have understood the importance of a continuous and direct dialogue with the stakeholders during times of acute crisis. “A direct focus on the stakeholders showcases a deep level of integrity, a clarity of purpose and unwavering dependability,” Lakshmanan emphasised.
