Retro in A Metro - 3rd August onwards in Mumbai

The Hindi film industry in Mumbai is celebrated as one of the biggest film industries of the world and Indian Cinema is ingrained in the lifestyle of millions of people of India. With its proposition ‘Woh Zamaana Kare Deewana’, Zee Classic is India's only Hindi movie channel that recreates the magic of classic cinema by showcasing not just the films that shaped Indian cinema, but also acquaint viewers with the creative talent who were a part of that timeless era. In a one-of-a-kind initiative, Zee Classic recreates the charm of classic Indian Cinema with ‘Retro In A Metro’. It is a brilliant opportunity for all film enthusiasts to revisit the iconic cults of Hindi cinema at a theatre in Mumbai, every Thursday at 8 PM, 3rd August onwards.

To celebrate Indian Cinema in all its glory, ‘Retro in a Metro’ blends cult content with the best of movie watching experience. The property will showcase four iconic and greatest films of all time that Mumbaikars don’t have access to in theatres. It is a ticketed screening held every Thursday at 8 PM at Cinepolis, Andheri (Mumbai) for the month of August.

Retro in a Metro kickstarts with the family entertainer Andaz Apna Apna on 3rd August, 2017 starring superstars Salman Khan and Aamir Khan which released on April 11, 1994. The movie is a laugh riot with iconic characters like Crime Master Gogo (Shakti Kapoor), Amar – Prem (Aamir – Salman) & Teja (Paresh Rawal).

This is followed up by one of Hindi cinema’s best made comic narrative, Kundan Shah’s Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron on 10th August. It’s been nearly 34 years (first released in August 1983) since the release of Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron, a film that any film buff would include in their list of top Hindi movies of all time. With an elite cast of  Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri and Pankaj Kapur, one doesn’t need any more reasons to watch this film.

The evergreen blockbuster Amar Akbar Anthony comes next on 17th August. One of the greatest multi-starrers ever made in Indian cinema, the film is based on the theme of lost and found where three brothers played by Vinod Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor separated from their parents and each other in childhood get back together eventually having been raised by three different faiths - Hinduism, Islam and Christianity. It was the biggest blockbuster of 1977 and also won several awards that year.

This extravaganza comes to an end with the musical hit, Karz on 24th August 2017. This 1980 thriller by Subhash Ghai stars Rishi Kapoor and Tina Munim as leads and also Simi Garewal in the critically acclaimed role of Kamini Verma. The movie treated audiences to the intriguing concept of re-incarnation and a chartbuster music album.

Retro in a Metro is yet another initiative by Zee Classic in association with 92.7 Big FM, India’s leading radio channel to present the best of Indian classic cinema to its viewers. Over the years, the channel has gone beyond regular cinema through exclusive & interesting properties like Classic Legends, India’s Finest Films and My Life My Story. With this special initiative, Zee Classic promises the audience an unforgettable movie watching experience for a month that they will cherish forever.
