Return of the Emperor or the Imposter Prince?

The official trailer of SVF Entertainment and Srijit Mukherji’s much awaited Pujo release Ek Je Chhilo Raja was launched amidst reminiscence at 112 Ripon Street, the Kolkata residence where Bhawal Raja resided during his visits to the city and where he spent his last few days in trials and tribunals before succumbing to death.

The trailer starts with a quote from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous novel – The Sign of the Four (1890) which states:

"...When you have eliminated the impossible,

whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth..."

Simultaneously we are introduced to a man (played by Jisshu U Sengupta) who is considered to a benevolent king, a loving brother, a ladies' man and destiny’s child and suddenly, the challenging voice of a lawyer (Aparna Sen) reverberates in the background and transports us to a courtroom where a middle aged man ( Jisshu U Sengupta) is being questioned about his identity.

The rest of the trailer gives us a foray into how a 16 year-long battle will be fought that will decide whether the dead king will rise again to claim his kingdom from the British or whether he will remain an impostor who pulled off the greatest coup in history? The trailer ends with the Bhawal Raja dipping into the holy waters and a Sanyasi emerging out of it, prodding us to think - the Bhawal Raja or the Imposter Sanyasi?

The trailer was launched in the presence of the stellar cast and crew of the film: Jisshu U Sengupta, Jaya Ahsan, Aparna Sen, Anjan Dutt, Anirban Bhattacharya, Rudranil Ghosh, Rajnandini Paul, Barun Chanda, Sreenanda Shankar, Tuhina Das, Indraadip Dasgupta, Srijato and Captain of the Ship- Srijit Mukherji.

Taking the to the stage and expressing his excitement, National award-winning director Srijit Mukherji said: “The much-awaited trailer of one of the biggest courtroom battles in history is here and I’m excited and overwhelmed to witness it at the abode of the Bhawal Raja with my entire cast and crew. The trailer speaks volumes of how the audience will go through a nail-biting journey to decide which side they will choose. All questions will be answered this October!
