Rohit Saran returns to ToI Group as EE, The Times of India

The Times of India, The largest circulated newspaper in the world has added more power to its editorial team. It is being done keeping in mind the varied audiences across geographies and the news content increasingly becoming platform agnostic.

As part of this move Rohit Saran has returned to Times of India Group as the Executive Editor of The Times of India. In his earlier stint with the publication group, he worked as the Executive Editor of The Economic Times and is credited with launching ET Wealth and ET on Sunday as well as in making a number of changes in the main paper. The other publications he has worked with in leadership position are Money Today (Editor), Business Today (Editor), India Today Group (Editor-at-large), and Khaleej Times (Editor). He has engaged himself in new digital, data and mobile journalism initiatives in the last three years. His expertise and experience in print as well as new age media is being looked at as a key advantage.

Saran besides being involved in overall operations of the paper would also oversee the business and features section. He would also work towards sprucing up the publication’s look by working closely with the graphic and design team and put his technological expertise into use to seek technology solutions for enhancing coordination between editions.

With this also comes the announcement of a number of senior editorial team members being elevated, key among them being Arindam Sen being redesignated as Managing Editor of The Times of India. He is currently the Executive Editor.

Diwakar Asthana, meanwhile, moves to Executive Editor position from his current position of Associate EE.

Derick D'Sa, currently Deputy Executive Editor, would move up to become Associate Executive Editor. He will oversee Pune, Nagpur, Goa and Madhya Pradesh in addition to running Mumbai.

Vikas Singh moves from Assistant EE to Deputy EE. In addition to managing Delhi and the front page, Singh will also oversee UP, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan.

Shankar Raghuraman is being elevated to Deputy Executive Editor from his current position of Assistant Executive Editor.
