Sangeeta Verma new acting chairperson of CCI

Sangeeta Verma was chosen by the government on Tuesday as the new acting chairperson of the Competition Commission of India (CCI). The nomination comes after Tuesday's resignation of full-time Chairperson Ashok Kumar Gupta.

Verma is a current member of the regulatory body. Gupta took charge of the CCI in November 2018.

According to a formal order, her appointment would take effect on Wednesday for "a term of three months or until appointment of regular Chairperson or until any subsequent orders, whichever is the earliest."
