'Sapno Ko Chali Chooney' Dainik Jagran new initiative

Jagran Pehel and Women Development Corporation (WDC), Govt.of Bihar join hands for the 4th time to implement a project on Women Empowerment titled- Sapno Ko Chali Chooney(SKCC)

SKCC is a flagship project of Jgran Pehel, aimed at women empowerment and addressing   the issues of gender equality.

Jagran Pehel, A Division of Shri Puranchandra Gupta Smarak Trust and Women Development Corporation (WDC) Govt. of Bihar signed an MOU today to implement the IVth phase of the much popular women empowerment project Sapno Ko Chali Chooney, for the third consecutive time. The project in its fourth (4th) phase will be implemented in  across nine commissionaires in the state of Bihar in a period of 12 months. Sapno Ko Chali Choone (SKCC), is one of the flagship projects of Jagran Pehel, aims at women empowerment and addressing the issues of gender equality. The program was born out of an effort to bring gender issues to the forefront and empower college going girls in Bihar to become confident & be the change agents in the society.The project on Gender Sensitization Awareness Campaign’ has been assigned to Jagran Pehel under the DFID supported SWASTH programme.

In due course of time the program has been widely appreciated and has been successfully replicated/up scaled in certain districts of Bihar. Initially, the project was initiated by Jagran Pehel, in partnership with United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in the year 2009 and looking at its success , it has become an important programme of Women Development Corporation (WDC) of Bihar in the year 2011 and now being implemented  under the “Mukhyamantri Nari Swashaktikaran Yojna.

The initiative SKCC has successfully completed three phases and at present the program is into its fourth phase of implementation in partnership with Women’s Development Corporation, Bihar (WDC) for the third consecutive time. The project will be implemented in 18 colleges across the 9 commissionaires over a period of one year, with especial focus on girl’s colleges. In the last few years, the project has been able to reach out to more than 1,27,000 girls in 54 colleges across 20 administrative districts of Bihar. The project has been able to create 120 young leaders who have been mentored and capacities built to become ‘change agents’ in the society.

The MoU was signed by Dr. (Smt.) N.Vijayalaxmi,  I.A.S, Managing Director, Women Development Corporation of Bihar and Mr. Anand Madhab, CEO, Jagran Pehel.

Dr. N.Vijayalaxmi expressed her satisfaction over the successful collaboration between Jagran Pehel and WDC, Bihar since 2011 and is looking forward  for the strengthening the ties with Jagran Pehel by signing the MOU for the third consecutive time  for implementing the 4th phase of SKCC  to achieve gender empowerment and gender equality by transforming young girls into change agents. She mentioned that the project has been able to make a mark in the state and is widely recognized by the potential value it has been able to create in the lives of young adolescent girls.  She added to say that the key success of the project lies in that fact that the change agents /champions of change who have been mentored through this project have been able to empower themselves against all social concerns and build are role models to their counterparts.

Mr. Anand Madhab expressed his happiness over the successful completion of the three phases of SKCC and also placed on record the generous and consistent support of from WDC ,Bihar . He mentioned that this project is very closed to his heart and the MOU will further empower the girls to become change leaders and bring gender equality in the society. Further he mentioned that UNFPA, India Country Office is an integral part of this programme, we hope that relationship will continue even this year.
