See Every Side of the #GujaratElection2017 on Twitter

As the upcoming elections in the state of Gujarat capture the attention of the country, Twitter is the best place to see what’s happening in the state election and engage in conversations about political progress among citizens. In fact, Tweets related to the Gujarat Election increased 20% in the past month, indicating growing interest in state politics on the platform. As the nomination period ends and election campaigning kicks off, Twitter is launching several initiatives for Indians to have their voice heard during the #GujaratElection2017, provide real-time updates on the campaign trail, and to connect voters to politicians on the most important election issues.

To encourage people to vote and light up more conversations on the platform, Twitter launched a special election emoji today for the #GujaratElection2017.

Available until now to 22 Dec 2017, the election emoji can be activated using the following hashtags in a Tweet: #चुनाव2017#તમારોમુદ્દો#મારું_ગુજરાત_મારી_સરકાર,#GujaratElection2017#GujaratElection#BattleforGujarat or #ElectionCaravan.

In addition, Twitter announces collaboration with ABP News (@ABPNewsTV and @ABPAsmitaTV) to bring more information about the #GujaratElection2017 to people across the state and India through Twitter and Twitter Lite (mobile.twitter.com). With the collaboration, ABP News will be producing more election-related news and information in Gujarati, Hindi and English on Twitter and Twitter Lite.

Twitter Lite is a data-friendly, mobile web experience that loads quickly on slower connections, is resilient on unreliable mobile networks, and accessible to anyone with a smartphone or tablet with a browser. The partnership with ABP News endeavours to extend the reach of the news partner, ensuring deeper regional coverage for the Indian audience on Twitter, and making it easy for data-savvy consumers to access #GujaratElection content on Twitter Lite.
