Senco presents ‘HeeRay Manik’ - a tribute to Satyajit Ray

Senco Gold & Diamonds, the largest organised jewellery retail player in Eastern India today announced an exclusive 3-day exhibition to commemorate the 100th birth anniversary of legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray. Christened as ‘HeeRay Manik’ (which literally means Diamond Gemstone), Senco Gold & Diamonds is showcasing 28 exclusive pieces of handcrafted jewellery inspired by Ray’s 28 iconic films from April 29, 2022 – May 1, 2022 at Gallery Gold Art Centre, Kolkata. Satyajit Ray, lovingly known as Manik, was born on May 2, 1921 and is considered as one of the greatest directors of world cinema. 
 
The exhibition has on display exclusive Gossip collection (the silver and costume jewellery brand from Senco Gold & Diamonds) inspired by Ray’s 28 iconic films like Pather Panchali, Aparajito, Jalsaghar, Apur Sansar, Parash Pathar, Teen Kanya, Devi, Mahanagar, Charulata, Kapurush-O-Mahapurush, Nayak, Chiriyakhana, Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne, Aranyer Din Ratri, Pratidwandi, Seemabaddha, Sonar Kella, Jana Aranya, Shatranj Ke Khilari, Joi Baba Felunath, Abhijan, Ghare Baire, Shakha Proshakha, Agantuk, Hirak Rajar Deshe. 
 
Actor Kushal Chakraborty who played the famous character ‘Mukul’ in Sonar Kella and actor Siddhartha Chatterjee who played the character of ‘Topshe’ - the quintessential accomplice of Feluda in Sonar Kella graced the inaugural ceremony of the HeeRay Manik exhibition.

Taking inspiration from 28 movies of the iconic film maker, Senco Gold & Diamonds under the guidance of Joita Sen, Director – Marketing & Designs has come up with exquisite jewellery designs – be it the pendant designed in the shape of Kashphool inspired by the famous train sequence of the film Pather Panchali; earrings inspired by the vintage chandelier in the Zamindar’s mansion in the film Jalsaghar; a pendant inspired from the spirit of femininity - the core theme of the film Teen Kanya, or the pendant depicting the iconic Howrah Bridge inspired from the film Mahanagar, earrings inspired by Charulata in which the unique elegance and beauty of the immortal heroine has been captured, earrings designed to show the divide between home and the world outside and inspired by the colorful door-tops of the era in which Ghare Baire is set, bangles portraying the expedition of the protagonist taxi driver from the movie Abhijan and earrings inspired by the final film of Ray’s illustrious career Agantuk to name a few. Veteran artist Hiran Mitra designed the collection’s ambient art.
