Shaadi.com launches its latest campaign #AnEqualNation on Women's day

Shaadi.com, the online matchmaking service, has launched its latest campaign on International Women's day titled #AnEqualNation that addresses the gender bias in modern Indian Society.

A recent survey revealed that more than 50% of women leave their jobs after marriage in India and 80% of women are neither paid nor appreciated for the work they do. Also, 68% of women graduates in India are not in the workforce today. More so, over 80% of women in
India are dependent on their husbands for a livelihood.

Taking a closer look at these findings, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, Shaadi Cares, a social initiative by Shaadi.com urges everyone to support #AnEqualNation with a digital campaign. Through this initiative, they pledge to bring at least 1 million women back to work and start a movement that can help transform this nation. This film is produced by About films, directed by Abhishek Dhandharia.

“This year Shaadi.com wants to address the gender bias in the modern Indian society and came up with an excellent script for this film. It delved into the core of the bias still faced by a quite high percentage of women. I feel that none other than Bhumi is the most suitable artist for this film. She has a strong voice and she has always stood by supporting the women. This initiative of Shaadi.org is commending and I really hope others will also join a mission in moving forward together with women ”, Abhishek Dhandharia, Producer & Director, About Films added.
