On the occasion of International Women’s Day, ShareChat, India’s leading social media platform, organized a special live session with famous singer and social media personality Deedar Kaur on their Audio Chatrooms platform.

During the discussion, Deedar emphasized the significant problems that women experience in life, the need of tearing down social constructs built around a woman's identity, and the role of family support in combating it. She also reinforced the need for strong female role models, describing her mother and sisters as the most influential sources of inspiration in her life. She discussed her experience as an artist thus far and how she overcame the hurdles of being in a competitive profession.

She charmed the 65000-strong audience with some stories and anecdotes, and the live audio chat room feature allowed her fans to engage with her in the language they were most comfortable in. Two lucky ShareChat users were also given the opportunity to directly interact with Deedar and showcase their talents.

While speaking on her music career so far, she spoke about the difficulty that arises due to her being compared to her elder sister, Asees Kaur, who is a popular and established singer herself, but also mentioned how her accolades have inspired her as well. She also gave a shout out to Diljit Dosanjh for being a pioneer in Punjabi music industry and veteran singer Noor Jehan as her biggest inspiration in singing, along with her favorite singers Sunidhi Chauhan and Shreya Ghoshal.

During the discussion, she also discussed how society has stereotyped women based on their appearances. She stressed on how the world would not exist without women and continued to emphasize the importance of breaking through the glass ceiling. She feels that the only road to the top is through hard effort till their ambitions become a reality.
