She Builds back with second season

She Builds, a digital-only series, which launched earlier this year to spotlight inspirational journeys of women entrepreneurs, is back with a second season. Created by National Geographic in collaboration with Sequoia India & Southeast Asia, the latest season captures the journeys of five mission-driven founders who are building large businesses and creating impact in the region and beyond.

Premiering on 7th October 2022, this season features three women from India and two from Indonesia who are building across a range of industries, from Software as a Service (SaaS) and FinTech to direct-to-consumer (D2C) brands. The short films shine a light on their conviction, vulnerabilities, and inner strength as they navigate the challenges of entrepreneurship.

The series, which will air over five weeks, features:

  • Vymo’s Yamini Bhatwho was an early believer in bringing Indian SaaS to the world
  • Progcap’s Pallavi Shrivastava who is empowering small and medium-sized businesses, providing them with working capital through an easy-to-use app
  • Wingreens World’s Anju Srivastava who is empowering underprivileged women in India while creating a range of better-for-you F&B brands
  • Lemonilo’s Shinta Nurfauziawho is helping Indonesians make better food choices through alternative versions of their everyday food
  • BeautyHaul’s Irene Ursulawho is on a mission to create a beauty revolution across Indonesia and Southeast Asia

By sharing stories of women who are building new technologies, categories, or business models, and tackling personal and professional challenges along the way, She Builds hopes to put entrepreneurship on the agenda for a wider group of women and girls.

“National Geographic has always held a distinctive and compelling approach to tell stories that have the power to inspire, motivate and encourage our viewers, in the most innovative manner. We explored short-form content to narrate the inspirational stories of seven women entrepreneurs in the first season and are happy to collaborate with Sequoia India and Southeast Asia again for a brand-new season and celebrate the stories of ambitious and uplifting women leaders who dared to dream,” said a National Geographic India spokesperson.

“Although the number of women graduating from university in India and Southeast Asia is at an all-time high, the number of female founders remains low. The team at Sequoia Spark, our program for female founders, has created this series in association with National Geographic to encourage more women to start up. By sharing their stories, we hope to inspire a new generation of women and girls to discover their spark and know they too, can drive innovation and build large scale businesses,” said Gayatri Yadav, CMO, Sequoia India & Southeast Asia.

Viewers can catch the films on National Geographic India’s social media platforms that have a combined following of over 10 million. The films will also be available on Disney+ Hotstar. You can catch the entire season on YouTube
