ShemarooMe enables live darshan for Alexa customers

ShemarooMe is bringing live darshan from various revered shrines across India to customers through its Alexa skill. Devotees can now worship and seek blessings from the comfort of their home. The shrines and temples from which the live darshan will be streamed include Prati Shirdi Sai Baba Temple, Shirgaon; Babulnath Mandir, Mumbai; Vighnahar Ganapati Temple, Ozar; Shri Mahaganapti Ashtavinayak Ganpati Temple, Ranjangaon; ISKCON Temple, Girgaon, Mumbai; Shri Ichhapuran Balaji Mandir, Rajasthan; Lakshmi Maa Mahalaxmi; Shani Shingnapur Temple; and Ganga Darshan, Varanasi.

Live darshan of all the deities is now just a voice request away. Devotees can say ‘Alexa, open Live Darshan’, or ‘Alexa, live Darshan shuru karo’ and select a stream from the options available to experience the devotional fervour of worshipping deities from various shrines and temples of India. The live darshan can be experienced by devotees, with no extra cost, across Amazon Echo range of smart speakers, Alexa app and Amazon shopping app (Android-only). Customers can also watch the live stream on devices with screen such as Amazon Echo Show and Fire TV devices.

Zubin Dubash, COO, ShemarooMe & Digital Businesses, Shemaroo, said, “Voice searches are revolutionising the way we live today. They not only lead to better content discovery but also enhance the overall user experience. We are delighted to bring the live darshan from these revered Indian shrines and temples to the devotees’ homes via Alexa and make it easily accessible to consumers.”

Dilip R.S., Country Manager for Alexa Skills, Voice Service and Mobile, Amazon India, adds “In most Indian households, Echo devices are kept in the living room where the entire family can interact with Alexa – from kids to the elderly. We have also observed that devotional songs and bhajans are the second most popular type of music requested by customers. Learning from this usage trend, the live darshan Alexa skill from ShemarooMe is a great addition for customers who seek devotional content and we look forward to their feedback.”

With the new Alexa skill, ShemarooMe looks to increase its brand presence in the Indian market. The devotional segment has been a key focus area for Shemaroo and the live darshan initiative will expand the market by connecting newer consumers to the category through formats and mediums of their convenience. Shemaroo has been entrenched in the devotional category through various platforms such as broadcast channels, OTT app, devices and now on Amazon Alexa too.
