Siemens India's 'Great Minds Long Miles' intends to foster local innovation

Siemens India has launched a country-wide social innovation initiative –‘Great Minds Long Miles (GMLM)’. The initiative endeavors to recognize, reward and showcase the innovative and sustainable solutions in the fields of Energy, Healthcare, Transportation, Agriculture and Manufacturing benefitting the society at large. This initiative is designed to salute the "innovative game changers" who have helped to build a better world combining their vision with the tenacity and skill to realize their dreams.

The initiative aims to illustrate how technology and innovations are delivering sustainable benefits to people and redefining the socio-economic dynamics of communities in India. The project is open only to Indian residents and invites entries from institutions, small and medium enterprises or individuals who have used technological innovation to create a positive impact on society. The innovators could visit www.mindsnmiles.com and upload their stories and other relevant documents to illustrate how their innovative use of technology benefited people and societies. The nominees will be judged on various parameters like entrepreneurial spirit, strategic thinking and the value their innovations were able to create for the society at large. The categories under which the Innovation stories are broadly classified are - Energy, Healthcare, Transportation, Agriculture and Manufacturing.

Research agency Ernst & Young will screen and audit the nominations for the GMLM initiative out of which, three winners will be chosen. The selected winners will undertake a journey to discover and explore their innovations. That will also be captured and aired on the TLC Channel that gives the winners a once in a lifetime opportunity to be featured on television.

“Innovation and a pioneering spirit have been cornerstones of Siemens’ success for many decades. As an organization, our focus has been to find original, inventive and resourceful answers to the issues faced by our nation related to demographic change, urbanization, climate change and globalization. The Great Minds, Long Miles initiative is yet another step in this direction,” said Ramya Rajagopalan, Head of Corporate Communications, Siemens India.
