Snapchat is supporting local sweet shops

This Diwali, Snapchat encourages Snapchatters to usher in the festive spirit by supporting local sweet shops by giving them a unique Augmented Reality (AR) Diwali makeover. The exclusive Diwali AR Lens lets you decorate your favourite mithai shop with firecrackers, diyas and floral decor, promising to elevate your Diwali experience further as you get the joy of decorating your budding local sweet shops with festive colours.

Further riding on this spirit, India’s Snap Lens Network Creators have identified specific local sweet shops and are giving them a festive Augmented Reality spin across India. Tanshiqua Sattiraju  from Hyderabad chose Gulzar Sweets, Gayathri Shri from Chennai revamped Krishna Sweets, Interactive Realities from Mumbai designed a make over for MM Mithaiwala & Bombay Sweets, Adhil Suresh from Cochin chose Nice Bake N Coolbar and Jagmeet Singh from Amritsar gave the popular Bhawani Sweets an AR twist.

Commenting on the special festive offerings, Lakshya Malu, India Market Dev. at Snap Inc., India, said, “At Snap, our focus is on localising the app experience for our Snapchatter community in India and these cultural moments are at the heart of it. This year we want to elevate the experience for our users through this special Diwali makeover AR Lens where they can hero their favourite mithai shops thus also promoting and encouraging small business owners. We have also introduced a range of exciting creative tools for our community to engage with across our 5 tabs. We are positive that our efforts to hero local businesses and add an element of sparkle to Diwali celebrations will resonate with Snapchatters across the country."

In the run-up to Diwali, Spotlight - Snapchat’s community-driven entertainment video platform, is hosting a #LightUpSpotlight showcase where creators can share their finest Diwali-themed videos- from outfits and dance routines to recipes for festive celebrations.

Snapchat is taking over all the 5 tabs on its app this Diwali, with each tab offering something special for Snapchatters to explore. The Maps tab while bursting with firecrackers will include exciting action mojis, lights, diyas, and lanterns.

Snapchatters can use the Chat tab to wish their friends and family using the festive themed Bitmoji and cameo stickers while the Camera tab will have several unique Diwali AR lenses and geo filters made accessible to users to notch up the festivities this October.

Promising non-stop entertainment on the platform, Snapchat will also launch the trailer of the much awaited seasons 2 and 3 of Phone Swap India on Monday, October 24th. The unique dating show is a blind date between two people who then swap phones to learn more about each other and decide whether or not to go on a second date. Phone Swap India season 1 launched last year garnered immense love from users across India. This year the new seasons will host some exciting celebrity guests including Riyaz Aly in Season 2 and Ashima Choudhary in Season 3 and it is set to premiere on Saturday, 29th October.

With Snapchat there is something for everyone - whether it is showcasing individual creativity or uniquely celebrating with friends and family. Snapchat creates a unique and fun filled festival vibe on its platform for every festival. Diwali being one of the biggest festivals celebrated in India - Snapchat innovates every year with new and fresh concepts like Diwali themes takeovers that helps bring its community closer together.
