Snapdeal Gold shipments cross 1.2 Million in the first month

Snapdeal’s premium services bundle, Snapdeal Gold, has won instant popularity with users all across the country. In the first 30 days of the service launch, nearly 12.26 lakh Snapdeal Gold orders have been shipped to users in nearly 6000 cities. The free service upgrade was automatically applied to orders where the customer chose to pay for the purchase at the time of booking the order. Snapdeal Gold service was launched last month and is designed to fulfill the oft-expressed desires of Indian online buyers. Not only does it offer free shipping, it also enables free upgrade to next day delivery in nearly 104 cities. Any concerns about order accuracy are proactively met by ensuring that each product shipped under the Gold service is scanned at SD+ centers before dispatch. Snapdeal Gold also offers a generous 14-days return policy, instead of the normal period of 7 days. Commenting about the performance of the Snapdeal Gold service, Rohit Bansal, co-founder, Snapdeal said, “Snapdeal Gold has scaled up extremely rapidly because it meets the real needs of our users. Our frequent users love the service because free shipping on each order adds up to a significant saving for them. New users on our platform are comfortable with Gold because it gives them an extended return window plus an assurance of 100% quality check. We are very pleased that our customers have appreciated the simple and clear promise of Snapdeal Gold - better service does not mean extra cost.” Maximum usage for Snapdeal Gold was seen amongst users in Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai. Smaller cities like Hissar, Ernakulam, Trivandrum and Rohtak were amongst the early mass adopters of the service, with more than 30% of all orders shipped to each city upgraded to Gold. Data on the first month’s performance shows that most of the upgrades were on Mobile phones (Samsung Galaxy J3, Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro, Redmi Note 3 and Asus Zenfone). Phillips Trimmers, Voltas Air-conditioners and Pigeon coffee cups were the other most popular orders upgraded to Gold. Snapdeal has aggressive plans to grow its Gold service, which already covers most of the 5 Million plus assortment of products available through SD+ (Snapdeal’s fulfillment centres). With Snapdeal’s fast deliveries already creating a buzz in the market, many lucky users in the Diwali season can also look forward to free shipping on their Snapdeal boxes, as part of surprise festive season order upgrades to Snapdeal Gold. Unlike other offerings in the market, Snapdeal Gold is neither a membership plan nor a loyalty program. It is a bundle of relevant and free service upgrades that is available to all, without any conditions of membership, subscription charges or minimum order value.
